The Marietta Board of Education is expected to set a Sept. 15 special election on Tuesday to fill the Ward 4 vacancy to be left by Jill C. Mutimer’s resignation.
If needed, the runoff date will be Oct. 13.
The board will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday for its budget public hearing before voting on the budget and the special election among other matters at 250 Howard St., Marietta.
Fees will be $207.04 for each one who qualifies to run as a candidate.
Qualifying dates will begin at 8:30 a.m. July 27 and end at noon July 29 at the Cobb Board of Elections and Registration.
“My family and I are moving only a couple of streets over, but it happens to be in Ward 3. I have served 10.5 years and was planning on only possibly trying to serve one more four-year term. So this change just sped that up a bit,” said Mutimer in an email Friday to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
