Allison Gruehn is expected to be sworn in Tuesday as the new member of the Marietta Board of Education.

“The required paperwork from the state is anticipated to be received by that time,” district spokeswoman Sommer Vega said to the AJC.

The meeting will be 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Marietta City Schools Central Office, 250 Howard St., Marietta.

With no opposition, Gruehn was chosen without an election.

Otherwise, the school board would have had to pay $15,795 for the Sept. 15 special election to fill the Ward 4 post vacated by Jill C. Mutimer.

Mutimer said she resigned since she was moving out of the district but still within Marietta in Ward 3.

“I have served 10.5 years and was planning on only possibly trying to serve one more four-year term. So this change just sped that up a bit,” she said to the AJC.
