Marietta Board of Education members recently adopted a cyberbullying policy.
They define cyberbullying as occurring through the use of electronic communication “whether or not such electronic act originated on school property or with school equipment” if three conditions are met:
- directed specifically at students or school personnel.
- maliciously intended to threaten their safety or substantially disrupts the school's orderly operation.
- creates a reasonable fear of harm to the person or property of the students or school personnel or has a high likelihood of succeeding.
