Marietta’s city-owned utility, Marietta Power, has received the Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3) award for 2020 from American Public Power.

This is the third time Marietta Power has achieved the Diamond Level RP3 certification which is the highest recognition, according to a city statement.

Not only was Marietta Power the first Electric City in Georgia to earn RP3 designation in 2010, they earned it again in 2012 and Marietta Power was the first to earn Diamond status in Georgia in 2014.

The RP3 designation recognizes public power utilities that provide consumers with the highest degree of reliable and safe electric services. the statement added.

The designated utilities demonstrate proficiency in four key disciplines: reliability, safety, workforce development and system improvement.

Criteria within each category are based on sound business practices and represent a utility-wide commitment to safe and reliable delivery of electricity, the statement said.
