The city of Marietta announced in a press release the police's Community Response Unit is teaming up with the Cobb County Safe Kids Coalition to distribute children's "Safety Kits." The kits are meant to protect newborns, infants and toddlers while they're in the home. They include outlet covers, cabinet locks, water temperature testing devices, a safety tips post card, Band-Aids, safety pamphlets and a postcard to receive a free gun lock and smoke detector.
Marietta police are also encouraging parents to use child-safe car seats correctly. According to the release, officers still see “improper installation of child safety seats.”
