Marietta Police hosts Citizens Police Academy

The Marietta Police Department announces its upcoming Citizens Police Academy.

The semiannual program provides Marietta residents and business or property owners of Marietta with an opportunity to experience and take an in-depth look at what it is like to be a police officer.

During the program, participants will receive an overview of various units within the police department and learn about multiple topics such as: Crime Analysis, Narcotics, Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), Crime Interdiction Unit, Investigative Services, Traffic Enforcement, Community Response Unit, K-9 Unit and Crime Scene Processing.

The 11-week program is scheduled to begin on July 26.

Free classes will be held 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. every Thursday at the Marietta Police Department.

Applicants must undergo a background check.

Applications are available at the front desk of the Marietta Police Department, 240 Lemon St., Marietta or online at https://www.mariettaga.gov.
