One man was dead and another in jail after a dispute over a woman turned violent Sunday afternoon, Marietta police said.

Marietta police spokesman David Baldwin said Patrick Burr used to date a woman who lived in the 100 block of Griggs Street, and when he went to the house around 2:30 p.m. Sunday, he observed his ex-girlfriend and 24-year-old Arthur Moses Jr. sitting in a car in the driveway of the home.

“Burr pulled out a pistol and began firing into the car,” Baldwin said. “Both occupants of the vehicle attempted to flee on foot, but Burr was able to fatally shoot Moses before he could escape.”

Burr, 40, was still on the scene when officers arrived and was taken into custody. He was being held without bond Monday in the Cobb County Jail, charged with felony murder and aggravated assault.
