A Public Information Open House concerning the Kennesaw Mountain pedestrian improvements will be held 5-7 p.m. Aug. 8 at Marietta High School, 1171 Whitlock Ave. NW, Marietta by Marietta’s Public Works Department and the Cobb County Department of Public Transportation.
The proposed project is being developed jointly among Cobb County, the city of Marietta, the National Park Service and the Georgia Department of Transportation. New pedestrian improvements would be comprised of three eight-foot-wide (minimum) to 10-foot-wide (desired) multi-use trails on Whitlock Avenue, Cheatham Hill Road and Burnt Hickory Road.
The total project length would be around 3.85 miles of which about 1.69 miles would be within the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park. Residents are invited to view the project, ask questions and comment on the project anytime during the drop-in hours of 5-7 p.m. with no formal presentation.
A court reporter will be available to allow the public an opportunity to make verbal comments about the project.
