Marietta High School is one of five schools nationally to receive a grant to increase the number of low-income students in the International Baccalaureate Diploma program. The school will receive support valued at $75,000 for a three-year pilot study which will be part of the IB organization’s Bridging the Equity Gap Project.

Marietta City Schools spokesperson Sommer Vega said of 188 juniors in the IB program, 32 percent are low income and of 179 seniors, 28 percent are from low-income families.
