How much do you hate driving around Marietta Square looking for a parking spot?

Would you pay $5 to just park already?

Starting soon, someone will gladly do so for part of the weekend.

Cobb County Commission approved at its Tuesday meeting a contract for a three-month trial run of valet parking at the Square starting May 25.

The contract with Woodstock-based Georgia Valet Services was for a one-time payment of $5,000 to use 50 spaces on the seventh floor of the county-owned Waddell Street parking deck.

Drivers would meet attendants at the Root Street alley on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, said Lindsey Wiles, Marietta spokeswoman.

"At the end of the initial period the proposal would be reassessed to determine whether a more long term agreement would be beneficial to all parties involved," the county agenda reads.

Wiles noted that there will not be valet service available for events where the Square is closed because the streets leading to valet attendants would also be closed.
