Marietta City Schools's board of education could announce its finalists for superintendent tomorrow, according to a district spokeswoman.

Current superintendent Emily Lembeck announced her retirement in August after 12 years in the role. Her last day is Dec. 31.

Spokeswoman Sommer Vega said Wednesday that 34 people have applied.

The national search started in early September and ran for a month.

The school system has about 8,900 students.
