The Marietta City Council voted unanimously to lower its millage rate to 3.61 instead of last year’s rate of 4.046 mills.

While the city’s millage rate is remaining the same at 2.788, the bond millage rate is decreasing by around 0.43 mills to lower the overall tax bill.

For a $200,000 house without homestead excemption, the annual savings will be $34.32 from about $1,921 down to $1,887.

The annual savings will be $32.61, from around $1,825 down to $1,793, for a $200,000 homesteaded property.

Marietta is the only one of the six cities in Cobb not increasing property taxes during the next budget year that began July 1.

In June, the City Council adopted a balanced budget of $322.9 million with no service reductions and no tax or fee increases.
