A South Carolina man who allegedly threatened the life of President Barack Obama from his computer at a Norcross motel was arraigned Wednesday on federal charges.

Patrick Randell McIntosh, 28, of Charleston, was also charged with possessing three firearms and ammunition while under indictment for a felony, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

The president was among “several people” McIntosh had threatened online, United States Attorney Sally Quillian Yates said.

According to court documents, Atlanta police were informed of the threats in November by the manager of the Laughing Skull Lounge. On his Facebook page, McIntosh allegedly posted that he wanted to bring a gun into the Peachtree Street comedy club “and shoot everyone.” Another post allegedly complained of “NEGROS (sic) in the White House. Think they own the country. Assignation (sic) the President!!!!!!!!”

It wasn’t his first threat to the Commander-in-Chief, federal officials say. In August, McIntosh allegedly sent a message on Facebook to a Charleston police profiler saying, in part, “I wanna kill the president of the United States.”

Further investigation uncovered that McIntosh had been arrested for stalking a Gwinnett County woman in October. He was on bond in South Carolina for similar charges, according to the criminal complaint filed against the man, who told police he was a student at Perimeter College.

Upon arresting McIntosh, Gwinnett deputies recovered a .22 caliber semi-automatic pistol, a .40 caliber pistol and a 12-gauge shotgun. A Taster stun gun and ammunition were also retrieved, the complaint states. The weapons were acquired at various locations in Georgia from private sellers after he had made the threats to Obama’s life, the complaint states.

McIntosh was indicted by a federal grand jury in Atlanta last month and released on state bond after he was indicted in South Carolina for felony stalking.

The firearms charge carries a sentence of up to five years. McIntosh faces a possible 10 years in prison for the threats to the president.
