The man accused of shooting at a Fayette County deputy following a traffic stop has been charged with aggravated assault, police said Wednesday.

U.S. Marshals arrested Keith Sinclair Lake Jr., 23, of Hampton, on Tuesday, five days after he led police in two counties on a manhunt, Lt. Brent Rowan with the Fayette County Sheriff's Office said. Lake was being held Wednesday night without bond in the Clayton County jail.

On Oct. 11, Lake allegedly refused to provide identification during a traffic stop in north Fayette County and instead drove away with a deputy standing at his window, Rowan said. Two Fayette deputies followed Lake into Clayton County, where the suspect got out of his vehicle, according to police.

The deputy used a Taser to stop Lake, but missed, Rowan said. Lake then fired a shot at the deputy, who was not injured, before running into nearby woods.

Police and deputies in Fayette and Clayton counties searched for Lake for about an hour before calling off the efforts.
