A Smyrna man drowned Thursday at Lake Allatoona, authorities said.

Adan Sanches-Reyes, 44, was swimming with his family late Thursday afternoon near Proctor Landing when he became lost, Cobb County police spokesman Officer Joe Hernandez told the AJC.

"His family looked back and they didn't see him," Hernandez said.

A call to 911 was placed around 5:20 p.m., and emergency workers from Cobb County police, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, and Acworth police arrived on scene.

"The body was found submerged (in the lake) by the Cobb dive team," Hernandez said.

Sanches-Reyes' body was taken to the Cobb County medical examiner, who ruled out the possibility of foul play.

An autopsy will be performed Friday to determine the cause of death.
