A man is in the Cobb County jail Friday, charged with robbing a Marietta SunTrust bank earlier this month.

Robert Timothy Coleman is being held on $100,000 bond after police say he robbed the SunTrust at 1840 Sandy Plains Road on Sept. 8. He was arrested at his home after Marietta and Cobb County authorities matched information from the SunTrust robbery to one that happened at a BB&T.

According to Marietta police, Coleman entered the bank and passed a note to the teller asking to put money in a bag.

The teller did so, and Coleman ran off, police said.

A Marietta police K-9 unit found the bag as well as some money that had been tossed aside, authorities said. Officials also contacted the Cobb County police, who were investigating a bank robbery at a BB&T.

Authorities were able to identify Coleman from that investigation, but he has only been charged with robbing the SunTrust bank at this point.
