Hapeville police have arrested a man for a shooting Friday morning that sent a woman to the hospital.
Channel 2 Action News reported that the woman, whose name has not been released, was shot Friday morning at the Willingham Apartments on Willingham Drive in Hapeville.
The victim ran to nearby Scott Exterminating on Central Avenue, where she collapsed after telling employees that she had been shot by her boyfriend, according to Channel 2.
The woman was conscious and alert when taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Hapeville police Sgt. Barry Barnes said Melvin Kemp was arrested around 4:15 p.m. Friday in the Fulton Industrial area.
Barnes said detectives contacted Kemp by cell phone and convinced him to turn himself in to police.
“Kemp gave the detectives his location at which time they met with him and took him into custody without incident,” Barnes said.
