Mabry Middle School will receive around $2 million in improvements.

Amacher Brothers Construction Co. was awarded the contract Thursday by a 7-0 vote of the Cobb County Board of Education for the school at 2700 Jims Road, Marietta.

Completion is scheduled for October, changing the music classrooms, providing orchestra instrument lockers, installing a CPA sport court and an intercom phone system, renovating all original restroom fixtures and stalls and adding blow dryers.

Replacements include chalkboards with magnetic marker boards, gym lights with high-bay fluorescent fixtures, the gym’s wood floor, auditorium seats and basketball goal supports, motors and cable.

Technology upgrades will include classroom workstations, teacher computers, classroom audio-visual equipment, printer/copiers, interactive classroom devices and supporting equipment.

Funding will provided through special purpose local option sales taxes.
