Loganville schools were briefly placed on lockdown Wednesday, said a Gwinnett schools official, due to the sound of gunshots in the area.

J.C. Magill Elementary School, located at 3900 Brushy Fork Road, and nearby Grace Snell Middle School, were on lockdown at about 4 p.m., said Gwinnett schools spokeswoman Sloan Roach.

Children were temporarily not allowed to go home.

Roach said teachers and children at J.C. Magill saw a strange man in the woods behind the playground and heard gunshots.

Police searched the area but found nothing.
