Lilburn police are warning residents of individuals going door-to-door posing as persons authorized by the city to conduct in-home carbon monoxide checks. Once inside, these people charge money for a service they do not actually perform.
Lilburn officials have not authorized anyone to inspect residences for carbon monoxide or for anything else, nor is any city employee conducting this or any other inspection. Anyone who does work for the city has an official ID card with their name and photograph, drives a city of Lilburn vehicle, and does not ask to enter a private residence.
Residents are encouraged to call Lilburn police immediately at 9-1-1 to report similar incidents. If possible, obtain a description of the person(s) and any vehicle they may be using.
