The Lilburn Downtown Development Authority unanimously voted to join the Georgia Main Street program at the affiliate membership level on Nov. 15. To officially join the program, the Lilburn City Council recently approved an agreement with the Georgia Department of Community Affairs.

As members of this program, Lilburn is committed to the pursuit of meaningful economic, social, physical and organizational improvements in the historic commercial district. The Main Street network provides an organizational structure for downtown businesses to get involved in making positive changes to the area.

As part of the agreement Lilburn agrees to engage community stakeholders in the process, develop diversified and sustainable funding sources, and participate in available training, professional development, and networking opportunities.

The DCA agrees to supervise communications between the community, state government agencies and the National Main Street Center, conduct training on an annual basis, offer a series of webinars on downtown related topics and four Main Street 101 workshops and one Main Street 201 workshop throughout the year. The DCA will also provide design services at a discounted rate. These design services may include phone consultations, site visits, conceptual drawings, property plans and layouts, corridor plans and strategies.
