Construction recently began on a 25-foot-tall gateway monument at the corner of Pleasant Hill Road and Highway 29 in Lilburn. The brick structure will include a seating wall around the base and illuminated the city’s name near the center of the monument. Drivers should be able to see the signage from various angles at the intersection.

“The monument reflects the pride Lilburn residents have for their community and it will let everyone know that they’re in the City of Lilburn,” said City Manager Bill Johnsa. “I see it becoming a popular photo spot for both visitors and residents.”

The signage should be completed in mid-March, with sidewalks and landscaping around the area to come later. The city is also discussing the possibility of additional gateway signs at other entry points to the city.
