Over 600 people completed a survey asking how Decatur can remain as desirable a home for older residents as for younger families. Those responding to the questionnaire, which closed Monday, were fairly evenly divided among age groups 30 to 45, 46 to 60 and 61 to 75, said Lifelong Community Coordinator Lee Ann Harvey.

Though data analysis won’t be completed for another month, Harvey said there were many comments from people, in considering downsizing, who prefer the option of a smaller or “cottage-type” home instead of a condo or apartment.
