Funds from the 2009 SPLOST program have made it possible to provide improvements to the playground near the Lenora Park baseball complex, 4515 Lenora Church Road in Snellville.

New curb and fencing is now in place along with four new swings, two spinners and a large rocking fire truck. The playground also has a new modular structure with slides, climbers, bridges and shade canopies with a “drop zone” feature that lets children ride to the ground from the structure like an elevator.

Gwinnett Parks and Recreation Division Director Tina Fleming said, “Playgrounds are a place where children can learn motor skills and develop social skills all at the same time.”

Besides the playground replacement, Lenora Park is undergoing other SPLOST-funded improvements. Crews are replacing the concession building and dugout roofs and an upcoming project will replace the pavilion roof.
