The Lawrenceville City Council on Nov. 2 approved a zoning ordinance amendment to allow for a special drug abuse treatment facility. The change was precipitated by a request from New Focus Addiction and Behavioral Health at 885 Buford Drive to provide an inpatient medically monitored detoxification program for individuals withdrawing from alcohol and drugs.
The amended ordinance requires the program be approved and licensed by the Georgia Department of Community Health and provides guidelines for the location of services.
