The Lawrenceville City Council recently moved one step closer to connecting downtown Lawrenceville to Georgia Gwinnett College with the purchase of several pieces of land. The purchases totaling $42,030 will help continue the process of creating the College Corridor, a stretch of land beginning at GGC and stretching southeast toward the Depot area and into downtown.
The acquisition of right of way and permanent easement includes one land parcel at 457 Northdale Road for $4,500, Parcel 32 at 596 Hurricane Shoals Road for $33,500, Parcel 50 at 596 Hurricane Shoals Road for $1,430, and Parcel 54 at 113 Maddox Street for $2,600.
The College Corridor was identified as part of Lawrenceville’s 2030 Master Plan to strengthen the relationship between the college and city by providing entertainment options in the Depot area, redeveloping local neighborhoods to fit college needs, expanding the campus for “future athletic events” and exploring alternative transit methods between the college and downtown.
