The Lawrenceville Police Department is warning residents that their customers are receiving calls from impersonators claiming they are with Lawrenceville Public Works. The criminals tell customers their account balances are overdue with inflated balances. The callers claim that gas bills are overdue and subject to disconnection of service. Some calls have originated from this number: 806-416-0248.
The calls “appear to originate from overseas fraudsters”, but could be local criminals using “spoof-dialing” techniques. Police are warning citizens not to chat with these callers since they will attempt to gather information about them or their bank accounts.
