Lawrenceville will swear in three City Council members Sunday afternoon.

Newly elected Mayor Judy Jordan Johnson and Councilman Tony Powell, as well as returning Councilwoman Marie Beiser, will take the oath of office at 3 p.m. at City Hall.

Johnson, who will be Lawrenceville's first female mayor, has deep political roots. Her great-grandfather, grandfather and father all served on the City Council. As mayor, Johnson said her priorities include cleaning up neighborhoods and improving government transparency.

The new council will hold its first meeting at 7 p.m. Monday.
