Lawrenceville City Councilman Tony Powell has announced he will run for re-election this November. In a statement released by Powell, he notes his primary reason for seeking a second term will be to continue work to revitalize the city. “Although we have made a lot of progress, I want to finish the dream of revitalizing my hometown by continuing to serve as a member of the Lawrenceville City Council,” said Powell.

Powell, a senior litigation partner with Webb, Tanner, Powell and Wilson, was elected to the Lawrenceville City Council in the fall of 2010. He was instrumental in the fight against commercialization of the Gwinnett County municipal airport at Briscoe Field. Prior to joining the City Council, Powell served as the city’s attorney for 25 years.
