The Lawrenceville City Council approved a zoning change Monday to allow the Aurora Theatre Co. to use an existing single-family home as a residence for visiting artists. The 1,400-square-foot brick home at 350 South Perry St. sits on .38 acres with a detached garage behind the house. Vehicle access and parking are provided by a driveway extending from Perry Street to the garage and gravel parking area at the rear of the residence.

Following a public hearing the council approved the request with two recommendations from the Planning Commission. The Aurora Theatre will not be required to come into compliance with the Downtown Overlay Architectural Requirements at this time since they do not propose any exterior façade modifications to the home. In addition, the property will be limited to occupancy by no more than two unrelated persons, unless granted a special use permit approval as a joint living residence.
