The Lawrenceville City Council recently approved funding for the emergency replacement of the Thornbush Trace Culvert Project. This task consists of complete demolition of the existing double pipe culvert carrying Pew Creek under Thornbush Trace and installation of a new precast box culvert. Construction will include grading, erosion control, removal and replacement of curb and gutter, backfilling, and sediment removal.

The project is funded by the city’s Stormwater Capital Outlay Fund in an amount not to exceed $723,345. An additional 2 percent cost of the project estimate was exercised by the city to obtain payment and performance bonds. The Dickerson Group Inc. will perform the work. Access to the 86 homes across Pew creek will be maintained during construction.

Banks County 0 mile sign is displayed on Old Federal Road, Wednesday, May 21, 2025, in Carnesville. The boundary between Banks and Franklin mysteriously moved to the east, allowing the Banks sheriff to claim he lives in the county and keep his job as the top lawman. (Hyosub Shin / AJC)
