Drivers will experience lane closures on I-85 between State Route 211 and Hamilton Mill Road in Braselton through Sept. 30 as crews continue construction activity in Barrow and Gwinnett counties for the I-85 widening project.

The right lane and shoulder in both directions will be closed to traffic from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly for crews to perform milling and asphalt paving. Drivers are advised to obey posted speed limits and traffic control measures inside the project limits.

The improvements will widen I-85 from two to three lanes in both directions from I-985 to S.R. 53. Additional work on the project includes replacing three overpass bridges along I-85. The I-85 widening project is the first of 11 initial Major Mobility Investment Program (MMIP) projects to begin construction.
