Spillway repairs and dredging on Lake Peachtree should result in Peachtree City’s lake-turned-meadow being refilled with water by summer. That’s according to updates given by staff to the city council on Jan. 15.
The staff is moving forward with long-term design of a new spillway, although the city has the option to do a temporary fix now that the structure’s Category II rating requires less intensive construction, said City Attorney Ted Meeker. A geotechnical evaluation and an emergency action plan will be completed concurrently with dredging, which the Fayette County Board of Commissioners will discuss on Thursday.
