Kroger announced it's launching a new price campaign at stores in Georgia at the expense of double coupons.

The "New Lower Prices" program will "reduce the prices of thousands of everyday items," according to Kroger's Facebook page.

The program goes into effect on Sept. 8 at Kroger stores in Georgia, South Carolina and Alabama. The double coupon program ends Sept. 21.

In a news release, Kroger said it's putting a new emphasis on print and digital coupons that are downloadable on the store's website and on a mobile phone app.

The supermarket chain will continue to accept manufacturer coupons and other coupons at face value.

"While we have chosen to discontinue double couponing, our customers can still reap the benefits of incredible savings with these new lower prices on thousands of everyday products," said Glynn Jenkins, director of communications and public relations for Kroger's Atlanta Division.

Officials said Georgia customers will also see new signage with a unified look across stores.
