Nominations are being accepted for an annual contest that honors Georgia nurses.

The March of Dimes Nurse of the Year Awards lets people nominate nurses in about 20 award categories, including neonatal intensive care unit, pediatrics, oncology and nursing administration.

Nominations must be submitted by Aug. 1. After the nomination is submitted, the nurse will receive a congratulatory phone call or email, a copy of the nomination and an application to become a finalist.

A selection committee made up of health care professionals will determine the winners by screening applications in a blinded review process. Winners will be announced at an awards gala on Nov. 4 at the Grand Hyatt Buckhead.

Funds raised by the Nurse of the Year event help support prenatal wellness programs, research grants, NICU family support programs and advocacy efforts for moms and babies.

March of Dimes, a nonprofit organization for pregnancy and baby health, received more than 600 nominations from the Atlanta market in 2016.

Sponsorships and tables of ten for the awards gala are available. For more information, contact Rebecca Mayo at 404-720-5308 or rmayo@marchofdimes.org.
