The Locust Grove Senior/Event Center will receive a new full-service kitchen at a cost of $558,799.29 after contract approval Oct. 3 by the Henry County Board of Commissioners.

Funds for the project are included in the county’s current SPLOST, and the details were ironed out by representatives of the county’s Parks and Recreation, Senior Services and SPLOST departments. To assist in funding this project, a budget amendment was approved transferring $50,000 from the account for Fire Station 2, which is in the same commission district as the center. Originally built by the city of Locust Grove, the facility was purchased by the county several years ago and converted to a senior center.

The contract and budget amendment were approved unanimously.
