Three children were upstairs at a Lithonia home during a party that ended with a man dead from shotgun blasts, according to a newly released DeKalb County police report.

Jordan Collins, 23, of Norcross died and his brother Chad Collins, 24, was injured in the early Thursday morning shooting on Tunbridge Wells Crescent. The report quoted Chad Collins, who said he and his brother were hanging out with women at the house, which belonged to their sister. The sister was out of town.

Police haven't revealed a motive for the shooting, which didn't injure the children, but the possibility has been considered that the brothers were somehow set up.

The report said Chad Collins was in a bedroom with one of the women at one point and came out to tell his brother to "get some more females to come over and party."

Two women showed up and started drinking.

One of them told Jordan Collins to go give the dog some food so he would stop barking. As he walked outside, Chad Collins heard several gunshots and saw his brother laying on the back porch, the report said.

Chad Collins said he went upstairs, got his three nieces and nephews and came down to check on his brother. He was then shot when he went outside to see what happened.

The roles of the brothers were initially thought to be reversed, that it had been Chad Collins who was shot first. But the report, released this week, quotes the surviving brother saying the opposite.

A responding officer found four .22-caliber shell casings in the backyard, along with a casing from a shotgun, the report said.

Police have said the women fled the scene.

No arrests have been announced.
