The Salvation Army Gwinnett County Corps is kicking off its annual red kettle fundraising campaign with a home run derby featuring former Atlanta Braves players, it announced this week.

The event, held Saturday at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville, will feature Braves alumni Javy Lopez and Mark DeRosa, as well as former San Francisco Giants pitcher Ryan Vogelsong. Admission to the event is free.

Besides the home run derby, the event will also feature a silent auction and a meet-and-greet with the former baseball pros. Kids and adults will be able to participate in games and fun activities, and food will be available for purchase.

Volunteer bellringers and their ubiquitous red kettles will be stationed across Gwinnett and the country accepting donations for the organization during the holiday season.

The home run derby will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Nov. 10 at Coolray Field, 2500 Buford Dr. in Lawrenceville.
