May 22 will be the special election date for Kennesaw voters to decide who will fill the vacated at-large Post 2 seat on the City Council for the term that expires on Dec. 31, 2019. The post was left vacant on Jan. 12 when Yvette Daniel resigned “effective immediately” and cited “personal reasons.”

The City Council also voted Feb. 5 to set the qualifying fee at $360 and qualifying dates.

For this nonpartisan election, qualifying dates will be 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 5 and 6 (closed for lunch from noon to 1 p.m.) and 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. March 7 in the City Hall Training Room, 2529 J. O. Stephenson Ave., Kennesaw.

To be eligible, a person must be at least 21 years of age, a qualified voter of the city and a Kennesaw resident for one year before election day.
