The city of Kennesaw on Friday will reopen its parks and trails with limited hours of operation.
Starting April 24, Swift-Cantrell Park, neighborhood parks and trails will open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., the city said. However, Kennesaw said playgrounds, exercise equipment and Swift-Cantrell’s skatepark and dog park will remain closed.
“This Friday marks the beginning of the next steps in reopening Georgia and our community for business,” Mayor Derek Easterling said. “We still have several challenges to overcome and must find balance between the health and safety of our citizens and staff, and the economic recovery of our city and the businesses within.”

Kennesaw said it will continue to weigh the next steps to fully reopen city parks and trails “in a safe and healthy way, and in accordance with recommendations provided by the Georgia Department of Public Health and all guidelines issued by the Center for Disease Control.”
Mayor Easterling has also rescinded the city’s executive orders that closed salons, barber shops, tattoo parlors and banned in-person dining at restaurants to comply with Gov. Brian Kemp’s decision to allow these businesses to reopen Friday and Monday.
