A former Georgia Bulldog starting football player is now the Kennesaw Parks and Recreation Department director.

Steve Roberts comes from the city of LaFayette Parks and Recreation in North Georgia, where he was the assistant director.

Before then, he worked at the Dalton Parks and Recreation Department for 16 years.

Roberts is a Certified Parks and Recreation Professional from the National Recreation and Parks Association.

Originally from Dalton, Roberts attended The University of Georgia, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation Administration.

While at UGA, Roberts was a four-year starter for the Georgia Bulldogs football team from 1991-94 and earned All-SEC honors.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to be here in Kennesaw. I’m looking forward to serving and growing the community through parks and recreation,” Roberts said in a city statement.

Roberts’ wife Amy has been a teacher in Dalton for 23 years.

Their son Jake is a senior at Kennesaw State University, where he played three seasons on the Owls Football team.

Their daughter Carson is a junior at the University of North Georgia, where she is on the Women’s Golf team.
