Johns Creek officials said a significant traffic chokepoint on the city’s north side has been relieved, with the opening of a right-turn lane from Jones Bridge Road to McGinnis Ferry Road.

The project added 700 feet to the northbound right-turn lane from Jones Bridge to eastbound McGinnis Ferry, plus a 1,000-foot transition lane to allow turning drivers to ease into McGinnis Ferry traffic. Traffic holdups had resulted from through and right-turning traffic sharing a single lane.

The roadwork ties in with a Forsyth county widening project on Brookwood and McGinnis Ferry roads.
