A proposal to widen Jones Bridge Road to four lanes from two – not the three-lane alternative previously vetoed by the mayor – will be presented to Johns Creek residents at a public input meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, at Dolvin Elementary School, 10495 Jones Bridge.

The proposal seeks to address traffic congestion on Jones Bridge from Waters to State Bridge roads. It is designated a TSPLOST Tier 1 project, with $11 million in funds earmarked out of the Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax approved by Fulton County voters outside Atlanta in November, 2016.

In December, 2018, Mayor Mike Bodker vetoed City Council approval of a $200,000 study on widening Jones Bridge because it called for consideration of a roadway with three lanes and a center turn lane. Bodker said residents had voted for four lanes in the TSPLOST, and the three-lane concept would go against their wishes as well as be ineffective in reducing congestion.
