The Johns Creek City Council has authorized paying $379,000 for 1.8 acres at 4795 Kimball Bridge Road as the site of a new fire station.

The station would improve response times in the north and central parts of Johns Creek, an area with about 8,800 residents, officials said. An exact construction timeline has yet to be determined.

“The purchase of this property ensures that we have locked in an appropriate location to design a fire station that improves service to the residents,” said City Manager Warren Hutmacher.

It would be Johns Creek’s fourth firehouse. The other three, in the eastern and southern parts of the city, formerly were operated by Fulton County and were in place when the city was incorporated in 2006.

Johns Creek has a 60-day due diligence period before the purchase is finalized. Staff will present options to the council regarding the resources necessary to operate the new station, officials said.
