Johns Creek OKs Autrey Mill museum rehab

The Johns Creek City Council has awarded a $112,344 contract to Peachtree Construction Services of Dacula to restore the Autrey Mill Nature Preserve Farm Museum.
Plans call for a total renovation of the existing, 781-square-foot structure, according to a staff report to the council. The facility will get a new, three-ton heating and air conditioning unit; a new metal roof; new exterior wood with some stone veneer; and two frame barn doors to assist with the movement of large farm implements.
Other improvements include new interior walls and ceiling and a complete re-wiring with new interior lighting to highlight the museum’s displays, staff said.
The museum restoration had been identified as the highest-priority project by the Autrey Mill Nature Preserve Association, the nonprofit that maintains the city-owned property at 9770 Autrey Mill Road.
