Transportation projects of the Johns Creek Public Works Department have earned the city an Agency of the Year Award for 2018 from the Georgia Section of the Institute of Transportation Engineers.

Public Works “made significant transportation improvements in their city during the course of 2018,” Marco Friend, immediate past president and awards committee chair of the Georgia Section, said at an awards presentation at the group’s annual meeting Dec. 6.

Notable accomplishments of the year included the widening of Abbotts Bridge Road; signal replacements on Old Alabama Road; installation of flashing yellow arrow signals on McGinnis Ferry Road; development and management of Intelligent Traffic Systems to synchronize signal timing and help balance traffic flow throughout the city; and sidewalk construction on Parsons and Brumbelow roads, officials said.
