The Johns Creek City Council has awarded a $1.05 million construction contract to CMES Inc. for intersection improvements at Bell and Medlock Bridge roads.
CMES submitted the lowest of seven bids for the work, staff said in a report to the council. The Tier 1 TSPLOST project calls for the addition of a left-turn lane and separate right-turn and through lanes on Bell; and extending the southbound left-turn lane and northbound right-turn lane on Medlock Bridge.
The council also awarded a $64,145 contract to Atlas Technical Consultants for construction engineering and inspection services, and authorized a construction contingency of 10 percent or $105,090, for a total project cost of $1.22 million.
“The project groundbreaking is anticipated to occur in late April,” staff said. “Construction, weather permitting, is expected to last nine months from the issuance of the notice to proceed. The anticipated project construction completion is end of 2020.”
