The Johns Creek City Council has approved a $602,412 contract to construct a 10-foot-wide sidewalk along Autry Mill Road, closing a gap and connecting residents to Dolvin Elementary School and Ocee Park.

D&H Construction submitted the lowest bid of four received and was awarded the contract to construct the 2,100-foot-long sidewalk from Buice Road south to an existing sidewalk. Additionally, Lowe Engineering will be paid a construction engineering and inspection fee of $46,700, for a total project cost of $649,112.

“This project will also improve a drainage issue on the east side of the road where water ponds and causes continual rutting of the shoulder, by increasing the size of the pipe under the roadway to match the pipe size on the west side of the roadway,” Assistant Public Works Director Chris Haggard told the council in an agenda report.

The contractor will have 180 days to complete the project, Haggard said.

This was the highest-ranked sidewalk segment not yet under construction or funded by the Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (TSPLOST) on a prioritized sidewalk list by the city, Haggard said.
