A Jeep went airborne and slammed into a home, trapping several people inside the home Wednesday morning in Smyrna, according to Channel 2 Action News.

Emergency crews successfully rescued the people, including the Jeep’s driver, just before 5 a.m. in the 2000 block of Sanford Road.

The jeep crashed into the second level of the home where four people were sleeping, Channel 2 reported.

“It just looks like he misjudge the curb and the clearance… due to the landscaping, it looks like he catapulted into the home,” Smyrna police spokesman Louis Defense told the news station.

Authorities are still investigating what caused the Jeep to go airborne into the house.

The driver was taken to the hospital where he was breathing and conscious, Channel 2 reported.

Crews removed the Jeep and covered the gaping hole in the house with a tarp.

Witnesses told the news station this wasn’t the first time this happened.

“A drunk driver ran through the stop sign at powder springs and ward, over corrected and impacted our home,” Carolyn McDaniel told Channel 2. The crash knocked McDaniel’s house off its foundation and caused $35,000 in damages.

“They need to do another traffic study,” McDaniel said. “They did one 10 years ago but I don’t think it was extensive enough.”
