The Peachtree Corners Planning Commission is recommending denial of a request by Ingles Markets for a gas station at 5075 Peachtree Parkway.

The Peachtree Corners Planning Commission voted June 13 to recommend denial of a request to remove a condition of Gwinnet County zoning that prohibits more than five outparcels that would allow construction of the Ingles Gas Express.

According to city documents, the proposed gas station would front Peachtree Parkway and occupy a proposed 0.76 acre parcel. The current use of the land is for parking in conjunction with the shopping center. The loss of 70 parking spaces would not cause the shopping center to fall below the minimum parking required by the zoning ordinance. Primary access to the gas station would be through one of the existing right-in-right-out driveways in front of the Ingles store and through other entrances via internal shopping center driveways.

The city council will have a second public hearing and vote on the proposed recommended denial at its next meeting 7 p.m. July 18 at City Hall, 147 Technology Parkway.
